FAQ’s

How do I book an appointment?

Visit the Contact Us page and fill out a booking form on DM directly on Instagram.

What are your rates?

All tattoos are quoted per piece, not hourly. Pricing depends on:

  • Size

  • Level of detail

  • Placement on the body

Some areas such as ribs and sternum take longer to tattoo and may be priced accordingly.

Full Day Sessions (large-scale work such as floral hip pieces) start from $1200 and include up to 6 hours of tattooing.
Depending on the final design, some pieces may require finishing over multiple sessions.

My minimum charge is $200, which covers setup, materials, and time.
Additional pieces completed in the same session may be discounted.

Payment methods

I am in a cash only so please come prepared on the day. There is an ATM available at the petrol station right next to the studio.

Deposits

A deposit is required to secure all bookings.

  • Deposits range from $100–$250, depending on the size and length of the session

  • Day sittings require a $250 deposit

  • Deposits are deducted from the final price and the remaining balance is paid on the day

  • Deposits are valid for 6 months

Deposits are non-refundable, but may be used to reschedule once to a date within 6 months with 72hrs notice.

Your deposit covers:

  • Consultation and communication time

  • Design preparation

  • Securing your appointment

A significant amount of work happens before your appointment, and deposits exist to protect that time. Please book thoughtfully.

Can I commission a drawing to be tattooed by another artist?

Can I get a design you’ve already done?

In short, no. I rarely take on commission work because of the time it takes up outside of the drawing I already have to do for my in-studio clients.

My original design are not to be copied or reproduced. Clients come to me with a specific meaning behind their custom piece and it would be quite a shock to see that on someone else. I can, however, come up with a similar custom design that isn’t exactly the same.

Touch-Ups

1 free touch-up is included with your booking for non-high risk areas (hands/ fingers/ feet).
The touch-up is valid for up to 6 months after the initial tattoo appointment.

Touch-ups are not eligible for rescheduling.

If you need to move your touch-up appointment, a minimum fee of $50 will apply (pricing varies depending on the size of the design).

Do you guest spot?

I currently don’t and haven’t but never say never!

For updates, follow @calmyourtats on Instagram.

I enquired recently and haven’t heard back — what’s the wait time?

As I am just a 1 woman show, busy periods can expect delays of up to 1 week.

Try to avoid sending follow-up emails as this will place you back at the end of the queue. Please include all details in your first enquiry.

Thank you for your patience 🤍

What information do you need about my design?

To create an original design, I need:

  • Approximate size

  • Placement

  • A clear description of your idea

Think about whether you want:

  • “Flowers”
    or

  • “A bouquet of the January, August and November birth flowers with some round eucalyptus leaves”

Both are workable — they just lead to very different results.

Reference images, Pinterest boards, tattoos styles you like, or even rough sketches are incredibly helpful.
If you’re unsure how to describe a style, include an image and say: “I like this style.”

Important notes

  • I do not tattoo fingers/ hands

  • Tattooing cover-ups and colour are case by case

  • I do not tattoo pregnant or breastfeeding women

  • I do not tattoo people under the influence of drugs or alcohol

If I decline a request, it’s never personal — sometimes I’m just not the right artist for the job.

What if I don’t like the drawing? Can changes be made?

Absolutely — it’s on your body forever so I want you to be 110% sure.

Designs are not sent out prior to appointments. You’ll see your design on the day, and most drawing happens in-studio so we can communicate clearly.

Minor adjustments are included.

If changes require:

  • More than 50% of the design to be redrawn

  • Multiple major revisions

An additional $50 redraw fee will apply, and your appointment may need to be rescheduled.

Changing your concept after confirmation risks cancellation or deposit forfeiture, as bookings are accepted and time is blocked out based on the original idea.

My appointment is booked — how do I prepare?

Stay hydrated, eat well , and rest up

  • Eat a proper meal before your appointment

  • Bring photo ID

  • Feel free to bring along any snacks, headphones, a pillow etc to be as comfortable as possible during the session

Avoid:

  • Alcohol

  • Blood-thinning medications (where possible)

  • Excessive caffeine

Do not use numbing cream — it affects healing and often makes tattooing more difficult.

Wear clothing that allows easy access to the tattoo area and that you don’t mind getting stained. Scarves, sarongs, stick-on bras, or nipple covers are great for torso tattoos.

Please arrive on time, not early. Tattoo timing is unpredictable, so don’t schedule other commitments immediately afterward.

I can’t make my appointment — what happens to my deposit?

Deposits are non-refundable.

  • With 72+ hours notice, you may reschedule once within 6 months

  • Less than 72 hours notice = deposit forfeited

Illness must be communicated as early as possible. Rescheduling due to sickness is only possible if I can fill the appointment.

If your appointment is cancelled by me due to unforeseen circumstances, your deposit can be transferred to a new booking within 6 months
